Denisse De Leon is the Director of School and Community Programs and Partnerships at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri. She supports museum staff as they create meaningful and memorable programming central to the museum’s mission: to invite all people to explore the art in its care and create a sense of belonging for everyone. To accomplish this work, De Leon and her team collaborate extensively with school educators and administrators, community partners, and volunteers. Since joining the museum in 2021, she has successfully re-envisioned the museum’s programs to ensure they meet the evolving needs and desires of the community post-pandemic, while also enhancing the volunteer experience.
Before moving to the Midwest, De Leon served as the Education Manager for The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. Now, she and her husband, Sam, enjoy all four seasons along with their young children, Gabriel and Maria, and their schnauzer Tina.
